Family is Forever

I was getting ready for work one day and I grabbed a belt from my dresser.  While putting it on I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful it was, the tanned leather, the beautiful stamped design, and the worn edges. I had grabbed a belt made by my grandpa as a gift to my grandma.

The belt was given to me this last year, and I absolutely love it.

I love that I have little mementos of my grandmas that have been given to me; but, my favorite one is my name. I am named after two incredible women.

Marian Amelia Holbrook and Mary Carol Olson.

Grandma Holbrook was the sweetest lady to everyone, the best cook and a talented musician. Grandma Olson was vibrant, active,  and loved to do new things.  Both were amazing moms and grandmas, they loved their heavenly father, were always positive and they were great examples to me.  I love that when I take a vacation, try a new recipe, say a prayer, or play a song on my ukulele I think of how these women helped teach me to love these things. I find myself missing them every once in a while and I am so happy for the gospel.

In general conference Dieter F. Uchtdorf talked about the Plan of Salvation. It is very comforting for me to know that “priesthood power is real and can bind me to my loved ones for time and for eternity.” His plan of happiness is a “message of love, joy, and hope.” One day I will be able to be with all of my loved ones who have passed on, and that’s amazing! I am so happy to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and to have been sealed with my family for eternity. It truly is amazing.

"Brothers and sisters, we are eternal beings,
without beginning and without end.
We have always existed."
-Pres. Uchtdorf
