Dr. Seuss

Today is his birthday! Also, it is Read Across America. I remember in elementary celebrating this day by having reading parties, doing poems, designing our own Dr. Suess characters, and our own books. I mostly remember in 6th grade having to write my book, it was horrible. We were then forced to read them to a 4th grader. How embarrassing. I still love picking up his books in our Youth books section at the library.

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”
You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. — Dr. Seuss

“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."

“How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."- Dr. Seuss

“You’re in pretty good shape for the shape you are in.”
