Grandma's Banana Cake with Caramel Frosting

This is one of my daddy's favorite cakes.
I didn't actually like it at first, but I am now loving it.
Get ready for a mind explosion.

Banana Cake

Ingredients:
                2 eggs                                       1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 C Sugar                                      1/2 tsp Salt
          1/2 C Margarine                      3/4 C buttermilk or sour milk
1 C mashed banana                                 1 tsp vanilla
           2 C Flour                               1tsp baking powder


Step 1:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan. 

Step 2:
Cream together eggs, sugar and margarine until fluffy. Add bananas.

Step 3:
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Alternately add milk and flour mixture to went ingredients until well combined.
Stir in Vanilla

Step 4:
Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick can come out clean.
Cool and top with caramel frosting.

Caramel Frosting

Ingredients:
1/2 C Butter                    1/4 C Milk
1 C packed brown sugar                2 C Powdered Sugar 

Step 1:
In a sauce pan melt butter.
Stir in brown sugar, bring to a boil.
Boil for 2 minutes stirring constantly.
Add milk slowly.
Stir slowly until mixture boils again.

Step 2:
Remove from heat, and cool.
Add powdered sugar, beat until creamy.
Add a dash of hot water if icing becomes to stiff.

Done!
super yummy in the tummy tum tum.

I made my moms Zucchini Bread!

So delicious. 
I made this because I bought a zucchini instead of a cucumber.
I still have a zucchini left. long story.
But now I at least have zucchini bread too. :)
Also, super simple

Ingredients:
3 eggs                 1 tsp salt
2 C sugar           1 tsp soda
1 C vegetable oil             1 tsp baking powder
3 C grated Zucchini (it's about 2 medium zucchinis)
1 tsp cinnamon             2 tsp vanilla
3 C flour

Step 1:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
mix all ingredients together.

Step 2:
Pour into greased loaf pan.
Bake for 1 hr.


I had 3 small loaf pans.. I baked it for 45 minutes and it turned out good.

Done!
Tastes best right out of the oven... so heavenly.

I did a Pumpkin Cake Cook-Off

My family has a family cookbook. I have it at college.
The dilemma I came across is..
both of my aunts, who are great cooks, had different pumpkin bar/cake recipes.
I made them both and had my friends come try and rate them.
The consensus was that cake #1 was a yummier cake.
Cake #2 had better frosting. But both #1 and #2 were super delicious. 

Cake Number 1:

INGREDIENTS:
              1 C Oil                       2 C canned pumpkin
2 C flour                             2 C sugar
4 eggs- beaten               1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder                2 tsp cinnamon
            1/2 tsp salt                  1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg             1/4 tsp ground ginger

DIRECTIONS:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan. 
Bake 25-30 minutes.
Frost when completely cool.. slightly chilled.

FROSTING:
6  oz. Cream cheese               3/4 stick butter
1 3/4 C powdered sugar                    1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp milk or cream

mix until smooth and spread on cooled pumpkin bars.


Cake Number 2:

INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs            1 1/2 C sugar
3/4 C oil             15 oz can pumpkin

mix until smooth.

          2 C flour                            2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder                    1 tsp baking soda
                 1 tsp salt                 1 box instant vanilla pudding

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix in the rest of the ingredients. 
Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Frost when completely cool... slightly chilled

FROSTING
8 oz. cream cheese                1 1/2 C powdered sugar
2 Tbsp soft butter                           1/2 tsp vanilla
combine, add milk if needed.
Spread on cooled pumpkin bars.

DONE!
It was super fun spending my day making these with Megan.
I also love eating, and spreading the joy of eating treats. :)
It definitely "wooed" the men. jk. But they enjoyed the idea.

I Made My Mom's Amazing Carrot Cake!

My mom's carrot cake, is amazing.
Seriously the only carrot cake I will eat. 

INGREDIENTS
2 C Sugar                           4 Eggs
2 Cups Flour                1 1/2 C Oil
2 tsp Baking Soda        3 Cups Grated Carrots
2 tsp Cinnamon               1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt                           1 tsp Allspice

PROCESS 
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Combine dry ingredients. Stir in eggs, oil, and carrots.
Pour into greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 35-40 min. (until toothpick comes out clean.)
Cool.

FROSTING
Mix Until Smooth:

1 pkg cream cheese, softened. (8 oz)
16 oz powdered sugar
1/2 C butter, softened.
1 tsp Vanilla

DONE! 

and it is SOOOOOO delicious.

DIY Braided T-shirt Scarf

Yup, I did another scarf.
This time it is a braided one.



Supplies:
1-2 t-shirts.
scissors

Step 1:
Cut off hem.
cut shirt into wides strips horizontally.

Step 2:
Stretch them out

Step 3:
Take 2 loops put together.
Take 2 more loops, put together.
attach these together. 

Step 4:
Braid both sides. 
To finish off braid, loop the ends around each other to form a type of knot. 



Step 5:
To each end of these attach another loop.

To the end of one of these loops, attach 2 more loops.
Braid this. 


Step 6:
Take the hem that was cut off, cut it so it is in a strip, not a loops.
tie this around both ends to connect your scarf into a loop.




Done!
you can double, triple,  or quadruple loop it!




Also.. bracelet. I followed my Other T-shirt scarf idea, but smaller with a shirt sleeve.
